Introduction
All of the leagues matches take place in the function rooms of pubs and clubs in and around Newport. No equipment is required to join the league (unless you are joining as a team), and only a nominal fee is paid each year. Most members are willing to allow use of their equipment until you make the decision to purchase your own. Our shooting format is simple and safe. We do not use firearms, we use .177 calibre precision air rifles and shoot at a metal plate located 7 yards from the shooting point. The metal plate is painted white and is graduated towards a hole in the centre for scoring purposes. The aim is to shoot the pellet through the hole. Nine shots are fired in total, two to sight and seven to score. A maximum of nine team members can shoot per match. Our summer league is a similar format, but the metal plate is replaced with target cards. We run two leagues to ensure our members have the opportunity to enjoy shooting all year, with the main aim to enjoy yourself and socialise with your team mates.
